Widening Participation activity

The Women in SET team provide access for girls to information and links to a range of careers in STEM organisations. Activities include taster days, conferences, tailored courses, support and information.

Working with employers, learning providers, careers professionals and community organisations, as well as girls and women we aim to encourage women and girls into science, engineering, technology and the built environment, to increase rates of recruitment and retention, as well as progression of women, and to help meet the needs of the economy.

Women from diverse backgrounds took part in research higlighting difficulties faced in breaking tradition to enter male dominated occupations, and how these barriers can be overcome. Traineeships and Work Trials to address some of these barriers are now taking place. more
